Hoonah, Alaska is a small community located in Port Frederick (accessed by Icy Strait), on Chichagof Island.  The culture of Hoonah is deeply rooted in its Alaska Native people and traditions.  This  sleepy community has in recent years grown rapidly with the addition of a port for commercial cruise liners.  Point Sophia is a renovated cannery which serves as a stop for cruise ships, touring the inside passage.  While this commercial point is a place of interest, even more so are the endless miles of logging roads surrounding Hoonah. Deer, brown bear, and other wildlife abound on these roads.   Hoonah has a grocery store, hardware store, as well as resteraunts and lounges.  When one travels to Hoonah, it is usually connected to  the area's  incredible fishing (fresh and saltwater), hunting (deer & bear), wildlife/marine viewing, sea kayaking, mountain biking,  or touring among the various coastal Alaskan communities
